Tetas, commissioned by Litgrid, is launching the preparation of the design and construction works for the reconstruction of two 110 kV overhead electricity transmission lines: Panevėžys–Ekranas II and Panevėžys–Velžys I. One of these overhead lines will be replaced with an underground cable line. The project will reduce visual pollution and ensure reliable electricity supply for the residents and businesses of Panevėžys city and district. The contract value amounts to €6.229 million (excluding VAT).
Tetas will prepare the working design for the reconstruction of electricity lines located in Panevėžys city and district and will renew transmission lines that have been in operation since the previous century.
The Panevėžys–Velžys I overhead transmission line, 12 km in length and operational since 1965 in the northern and southeastern parts of Panevėžys, will undergo a full reconstruction. Over a 7 km section, all worn-out supports and conductors will be replaced from the Panevėžys transformer substation to the Ekranas transformer substation. From the Ekranas substation to the Velžys substation, a 5 km section of overhead line will be replaced with an underground cable line. The reconstruction will significantly reduce the protective zone of the existing line, which is defined based on land plot layouts and perimeters, thereby minimizing inconvenience for landowners.
Another line, Panevėžys–Ekranas II, built in 1968 around Panevėžys and stretching 8 km, will also be fully reconstructed, with all worn-out supports and conductors replaced. In this case, the protective zone of the existing line will remain unchanged.
Construction works are scheduled to begin in Q2 2026 and are expected to be completed in Q3 2028.
