Tetas has successfully completed the contracted reconstruction works at the Berčiūnai transformer substation. The project was carried out on behalf of Litgrid at the substation located in Papušiai village, Panevėžys Eldership, Panevėžys District Municipality. The value of the project amounted to EUR 2.8 million.
During the reconstruction, the 110 kV switchyard was upgraded, the transformer substation configuration was modified, and modern control and communication solutions were installed. The main 110 kV equipment and its supporting structures were also replaced, while remote-control capabilities were expanded, enabling more efficient and responsive management of the electricity transmission network.
“By modernising transformer substations, we are consistently strengthening the resilience and flexibility of the entire electricity transmission system. The reconstruction of the Berčiūnai substation will enable more reliable management of electricity flows in northern Lithuania, faster response to changes in the grid, and a high quality of electricity supply for consumers,” says Adomas Birulis, Head of the Substation Projects Unit at Litgrid’s Strategic Infrastructure Department.
“Projects such as the reconstruction of the Berčiūnai transformer substation allow us to apply Tetas’ long-standing experience in implementing energy infrastructure modernisation works. The upgraded substation will contribute to the more reliable operation and more efficient management of the electricity transmission network, while for us it represents another important contribution to strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure,” says Dovydas Grušauskas, Project Manager at Tetas’ Project Management Division.
The project also included the application of more environmentally friendly technological solutions. Modern equipment was used to reduce environmental impact and contribute to the development of a more sustainable electricity transmission infrastructure.
The upgraded Berčiūnai transformer substation will strengthen the reliability of the regional electricity network, create conditions for more efficient management of electricity flows, and contribute to improving the quality of electricity transmission for consumers in northern Lithuania.
This project represents another contribution by the Tetas team to a more reliable, modern and sustainable energy infrastructure in Lithuania.
