The Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator, Litgrid, has signed contracts with the energy infrastructure development and maintenance company Tetas for the reconstruction of the 110 kV switchyard at the Vaidotai transformer substation and the design work for the reconstruction of the 110 kV switchyard at the Leipalingis transformer substation. Outdated and polluting equipment is being replaced with environmentally friendly devices to modernize the country’s electric power system and ensure a reliable electricity supply.
Tetas will reconstruct the 110 kV switchyard at the Vaidotai transformer substation. The reconstruction will update the 110/10 kV switchyard equipment, which has been in operation since 1980, and install a solar power plant. This will not only ensure the reliability of the electricity supply but also reduce the operating costs of the transformer substation in the future.
Investments in this project amount to approximately 2.3 million euros excluding VAT. During the reconstruction of the switchyard, the transmission of electricity to residents, organizations, and businesses in the region will remain reliable and stable.
The reconstruction work is planned to be completed by 2027. In June of this year, Litgrid signed a design work contract with Tetas for the reconstruction of the 110/35/10 kV switchyard at the Leipalingis transformer substation. Tetas will be responsible for preparing the technical project, obtaining construction permits, and supervising the project. The value of the design services is 92,820 euros excluding VAT. The transformer substation is planned to be operational by 2028.
